Wheat icon! ๐Ÿค—

I was itching to paint some art for the game, although as one of my favorite game dev Youtubers puts it, making your game and game art at the same time isn't prototyping - it's making the game itself ๐Ÿ˜…
I just wanted to play around with the colors and the brushes a little bit after all this time (I haven't painted much since the Confectionery art last summer) and it feels great painting something cute, edible (well, after some processing ๐Ÿ˜œ) and colorful!

I have realized that, more than anything when painting, I love creating textures. I almost never draw line art, just focus on the general shapes, mold the texture with many many iterations with a bristle smudge brush (my favorite Krita brushes), and add intense color layers, with or without additional texture and filters, to produce some powerful colors (one of my more intense color examples here, these pancakes look almost neon at places ๐Ÿ˜‚ love playing with the color dodge filter though).

Although I tend to overwork my textures at times, it is always a beautiful surprise when a brush stroke just seems to land perfectly with no need of smudging and gives that extra definition to the image. I tried to leave the brightest wheat highlights here untouched, too - even more so as this art is intended to become a game icon and should look good in smaller sizes.

Feel free to speak your mind in the comments - what do you like most in game art?
